reason to laugh

When a puppy is in your life there is always a reason to laugh.

We rescued Whiskey Tango this past April, it is amazing to me how fast and how big she has become in such a short period of time. It is equally mind blowing to think about how many of our prized possessions she has eaten and destroyed in such a short period of time.

Unsure of what type of breed ( or
breeds ) she is, we decided to buy some tennis balls, find an isolated nearby body of water, pack up the jeep and Sweet Pea and find out if she liked swimming. My groom noticed her paws are webbed one day when he was playing with her.

I, the over protective mother who wants Whiskey and Pea to live in a bubble soon found myself laughing...

Whiskey was a natural swimmer who fetched in the water and ran full speed in endless circles for about 2 hours straight. She had fun and we found ourselves laughing with her and at her.

Please foster and rescue when you can, there will always be a reason to laugh if you do.

testing our limits

“Just like in bodybuilding, failure is also a necessary experience for growth in our own lives, for if we're never tested to our limits, how will we know how strong we really are? How will we ever grow? ”
- Arnold Schwarzenegger

As I mentioned in my last blog, I recently had the true joy of meeting Amanda on a beach in Texas for a fitness focused photo shoot. Amanda is not a bodybuilder per se, she is a nutritionist for a large and incredibly successful gym in Houston.

As you can see and hopefully realize by now, a fit healthy body requires a good clean diet. I am often questioned about exercise and I am seldom questioned about diet, though I could go on about this subject, I will not here and now. Diet and exercise go hand in hand and in the end if you do not do things differently you will never have different results. Obtaining and maintaining good health and excellent strength requires us to push our limits. The challenge is what changes us.

The morning and Amanda were absolutely gorgeous, here are some of my favorites from our session.

in love with life

“Be in love with your life. Every minute of it.”
-Jack Kerouac

Recently I scheduled a fitness focused photo shoot with Amanda and we discussed location, wardrobe and clothing ideas. I always ask my clients to bring a friend or family member with them to help them relax and have fun. We met first thing in the morning on a gorgeous day on a beach in Galveston, Texas.

She looked fit and gorgeous as expected, but her happiness in her relationship with Scott was impossible to avoid seeing. Couples photography is one of my favorite photo shoots to do, so after a few laughs I decided to include Scott in the shoot. Here are some of my favorites from the impromptu session:

the gift

“To give anything less than your best, is to sacrifice the gift.”
-Steve Prefontaine

I have been a fan of bodybuilding since I was a young girl growing up in the 70's. My father, an amateur, used to take me to his gym and bicep curl me.

My first hero was Steve Reeves and he showed me that bodybuilding is a form of art. To me it takes talent, discipline, consistency and a drive not everyone possesses.

I have worked out for decades and understand the sacrifices made to compete. I can appreciate the confidence it must take to step on a stage.

Photographing Marsha was a true honor. Here are some of my favorites from our shoot.
